Digital Forensics

What is Digital Forensics?

Digital Forensics is associated with discovering, reporting, acknowledging the security breaches. Digital Forensics is also used in the event of cyber crimes. In addition, digital forensics experts are in demand with the rise of cyber crimes (Tiwari, et al. 2021).

Challenges in Digital Forensics

It is common for professionals in this field to face some difficulties. Some of these challenges can be listed in three categories.

1-Technical Challenge:
It includes media format, anti forensics, encryption and steganography which can create technical difficulties when it comes to discovering evidence.

2-Legal Challenge:
It includes insufficiency in jurisdictional and legislation which produces legal challenges.

3-Resourse Challenge:
It includes the size of data, time spent to obtain forensic media, and using tools that are not intended to be used in this field develops the challenges related to the resources.

Branches of Digital Forensics

There are five branches in digital forensics:

1-Computer Forensics:
Gathering and examining evidence that are needed during cyber investigation.

2-Networks Forensics:
Profiling the criminals behaviour and tracking them down by gathering and inspecting their data.

3-Mobile Device Forensics:
The retrieval of digital evidence from a mobile device.

4-Memory Forensics:
Going through a device's memory dump.

5-Email Forensics
